MEGR 7090/8090: Introduction to Transmission Electron Microscopy

This course is designed for graduate students with various academic background, including engineering, nanoscale science, physics, chemistry and biology. In this course, students will have opportunities to learn theoretical and practical concepts of Transmission Electron Microscopy (TEM). Topics will cover but not limited to (1) basic instrumentation of TEM, (2) diffraction, (3) imaging, and (4) microanalysis.  In addition to lectures, students will have hands-on opportunities to learn how to operate a state-of-art TEM system, and several sample preparation tools. The course will have regular lectures and labs. The final grade will be determined based on homework, lab reports, and examinations.

 

The course is offered every fall semester.
