Great visit to the University of North Carolina Charlotte last week to speak with junior and senior engineering students on Sustainability, Life Cycle Analysis, and Circular Economy. I was really impressed by the students and the University is just a beautiful place.
SPE is hosting ANTEC® 2022, in-person, co-located with PLASTEC® South, an Informa event, at the Charlotte Convention Center in Charlotte, NC, from June 14-16, 2022. I look forward to seeing you there and connecting with old friends and making new ones.
We are excited to announce that Dr. Roger Tipton has accepted a position of Materials Engineering Fellow at Newell Brands located in Charlotte North Carolina. This is an exciting position where Dr. Tipton will be working on biobased and biodegradable materials.
Roger Tipton’s article, How I navigated through my midlife PhD, has been accepted by Nature. The article will appear in the Careers section of Nature and will be published in the January 14 edition. Hopefully my experience can help others in their pursuit of a career in science no matter how old they are.
Roger Tipton is working at the University of Glasgow this week with Dr. Ravinder Dahiya’s group to collaborate on flexible electronics research. Our new manuscript, Optical interconnects on a flexible substrate by multi-material hybrid additive and subtractive manufacturing, has been accepted by Additive Manufacturing Journal. I would like to thank the co-authors (Dianhao Hou, Zhimin Shi, Thomas Weller, and Venkat Bhethanabotla) for all our hard work in getting this important research published in such a high impact journal.
Roger Tipton will be teaching Foundations of Engineering Lab (USF Course ENG3000L) for Fall 2021 Semester. In person learning again after all the online school is very exciting. Good luck to all the students and I hope everyone has a great semester.
