Before academia, Roger spent more than 25 years in industry, rising from a shopfloor manufacturing engineer to CEO. That foundation shapes every course he teaches and every research question his lab pursues: the distance between a good idea and a useful product matters.
He chairs the board of the Sustainable Seas Institute, the nonprofit that operates R/V Dawn for Caribbean and polar ocean research in partnership with UNC Charlotte.
