Research

Dr. Chowdhury’s research interests are in renewable energy system modeling, analysis, control and economics; complex multi-modal non-linear system vulnerability assessment; integration of renewable and distributed energy resources including wind electric conversion systems, solar PV, fuel cells, and energy storage in a smart grid environment. Prior to joining UNC-Charlotte, he was a Professor in the ECE Department of Missouri S&T. He has published more than 150 papers in archival journals and conference proceedings. Dr. Chowdhury has also directed more than 40 Ph.D and M.S theses in these areas.

Dr. Chowdhury has considerable knowledge of and experience with power industry needs. He has served as a technical consultant for Cooper Power Systems, Bonneville Power Administration, Electric Power Research Institute, NASA Johnson Space Center and the Naval Surface Warfare Center.
