About

The Experimental Structural Dynamics and Health Monitoring Laboratory at UNC Charlotte provides extensive experimental and analytical resources to support research on performance assessment of large-scale in-service infrastructure systems. The laboratory specializes in full-scale experimental testing using both conventional and proprietary wireless sensing technologies. Applied research studies have encompasses real-world case studies featuring environmentally-driven deterioration, simulated structural damage, and extreme loads, including fire and blast. The laboratory has developed in-house extensive software resources for structural identification through finite element model updating driven by modal parameter estimates to construct high-fidelity calibrated models of structural systems under test.
