Forest began his bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering at UNC Charlotte in June 2018. Prior to that, ‎he had received an Associate’s Degree in Engineering from Central Piedmont Technical College. He ‎joined the Power Delivery Innovation Group in February 2019 as an undergraduate research assistant. ‎Previously, Forest worked as a project engineer with Carolina Products, Inc. where he designed ‎custom unitized switchgear for commercial applications. His research has focused on temperature-dependent transmission system modeling.‎

Award: 

    Forest was selected as a recipient of the IEEE Power & Energy Society Scholarship Plus Initiative John W. Estey Outstanding PES Scholar Award. This award is presented to the top PES Scholar in each Region. Forest’s application was reviewed by a committee of industry and academic representatives who identified him as a high-achieving undergraduate student in an electrical engineering program! The committee sees that Forest is taking the appropriate action to obtain the knowledge and skills necessary, which will result in him making an impact across the power and energy industry.
