The types of students that Dr. Williams is typically interested in include:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Type #1:&nbsp; Mechanical\/manufacturing students<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>interests in machine design, manufacturing, instrumentation<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>SolidWorks proficiency (or Creo)<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>experience with MATLAB, LabVIEW, Arduino<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>hands on experience with machining (mill, lathe) or electronics<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>enrolled in mechanical engineering (or mechanical engineering technology), electrical engineering (or electrical engineering technology)<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Type #2:&nbsp; Computer science\/Cyber Security\/Computer Engineering student with networking experience for a funded research position (stipend + tuition support).<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li><strong>US citizen (this is non-negotiable based on the funding agency)<\/strong><\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Networking admin experience<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Comfortable in Windows and Linux<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Vitualization experience (vCenter and vSphere) is a plus<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Proficiency in 2+ programming languages<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>MS or PhD student preferred, but undergrads with the right skills\/background will be considered<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>If you are interested in applying to one of these positions:<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Please send me the following via email (subject line &#8216;Research Position Interest&#8217;):<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ol class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>A short research interest statement (2-3 paragraphs) that includes a) why you are interested in my research group b) what particular skills\/attributes you think are most relevant in considering your application and c) a single picture of a meaningful project that you have worked on (CAD screenshot, electronics schematic, MATLAB GUI, graph of collected data, etc.)<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Your CV\/resume<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Unofficial transcripts<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Send PDF documents only please<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n\n\n\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>Recommendations<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>I am glad to provide recommendations for students that I have worked with as they apply for job, graduate programs, and other opportunities.&nbsp;
