Prof. Sheng-Guo Wang’s NCDOT research project, titled “Improvements to NCDOT’s Wetland Prediction Model” (4-2012~8-2014), has won a prestigious National “Sweet 16” High Value Research 2015 Award by AASHTO (American Association of State Highway and Transportation Officials) and RAC (Research Advisory Committee), 2015.
2015 Sweet 16 projects are also acknowledged in the Poster Session (4′ x 8′) at 2016 TRB (Transportation Research Board) Annual Meeting, TRB, The National Academies of Sciences, Engineering, and Medicine, Jan. 2016.
Professor Wang has been an Invited Speaker to present his award winning research at the 2016 TRB 95th Annual Meeting, The National Academies of Sciences • Engineering • Medicine, Washington DC, Jan. 11, 2016.

His project is cited with the specific captions ” A Greener Transportation System” and “Automation Provides Faster Wetlands Assessment in North Carolina” at the top-right column in page 2 by the AASHTO and RAC.
In the citation document, the NCDOT further recognized that “the state is already enjoying the benefits of the new system, saving $350,000 on wetland and stream delineations on just one project. Moreover, the automated tool provides early awareness of potential wetlands impact areas during project planning. This helps both state and federal agencies take follow-up measures in a timely manner.”
The 2015 Sweet 16 High Value Research Award citation document was also distributed at the TRB 95th Annual Meeting, where Professor Wang presented his project poster (shown below).
